Boldo leaves contain also 2%–4% of essential oil. Boldo oil has a stimulating effect on blood circulation, the brain, and nerves. Boldo essential oil is extremely powerful and even small quantities can produce convulsions. It’s not recommendable for aromatherapy.
Botanical Name: Peumus boldus
Extraction Method: The leaves and sometimes the bark of the tree is distilled.
Constituents: linalool, bornyl-acetate, cumin aldehyde, eugenol, and many others.
Uses:-
- Boldo essential oil is utilized for the formulation of insect repellants and herbal insecticides due to its toxic nature.
- It has a stimulating effect on blood circulation, brain, and nerves.
