The tree bark of the plant produces large quantities of the resin over a period of months.
Elemi hydrosol is extracted from the bark resin using steam distillation from a t6ropical tree native to the Phillippines. It is a member of the Burseraceae plant family and is closely related to frankincense and Myrrh resin.
Blends with: Cinnamon, lavender, myrrh, rosemary, sage, spice oils.
Constituents: phellandrene and imonene, elemicine, dipentene and terpineol.
Uses:
- It is used as an ointment for wounds.
- It can be applied to the chest as a poultice to stop severe coughing.
- It is also used to stimulate mental and psychic ability and gives spiritual balance and calms the mind.
